Xtian's paint and napkin with gridded paper

digital prints, 4 parts from 14 part series
"Xtian's paint and napkin..." series was created by pasting the 2 "given" items -a sheet of paint scrapings and paper napkins- to sheets of gridded paper. Incisions were then made horizontally and vertically along the image area, and "clean" strips of the gridded base-paper woven in and secured with tape. The entire sheet was then cut into vertical strips woven together and deconstructed three times to varying formal ends.

Collaborations

"Surface/Brush" collaboration with Bernadine Schroyer, Summer '09:
8x10" digital prints of original works, that consisted of 4 types of varying, miscellaneous media on cardboard.

Paper Grids

In thinking about how to better incorporate serendipitous elements into work and the working process as well as how to speak to the importance of diverse voices coming together to bring new elements into being, I began working on this series.
35x40"
Using abaca fiber as a base to which I added materials given to me by peers, this series of grids is the first in the beginning of my considering how material choices relate to and can become a metaphor for the subjective voice.
